There is always someone that has to do the first step, and so it happened that on a sunny Friday afternoon in may, Alain Ackermann hit the road all the way from a far away canton to meet up with Mack Schildknecht and I at Mack Music in Wald (CH). The mission was clear: Record the drums for eranaës first single.
After some shoptalk on snares, drumkits and other music related topics, Alain began to install his drumkit, tune the toms and make himself comfortable for the next few hours of drumming. As he was very well prepared, Alain raised a few ideas and questions on how to play the fills and beats before he warmed up with some drum patterns.
And finally, the recording began, Mack hit the record button and Alain provided some serious drumming. The air was filled with beats and talent. Mack and me listened to the sounds that found its way out of the drum-booth and after a few takes the threesome discussed some of the parts, which of the fills would fit better and how an appropriate ending could sound like.
Some 2 hours later, the first step of recording eranaës song number 1 was made: we had a wrap. Drumming was completed and it sounded awesome. I am really looking forward to finally releasing the song in September.
